These are 2 adorable dogs rescued from the streets and looking for a great home...they are very much in love with each other, so they wish to remain together when adopted. Who wants this super cute couple to give love to?
Have you seen me before? If you visited the (Collapsed) Natural Bridge lately, probably yes. I use to live there, so I'm well fed but I have a problem. As long as I was healthy, no one complained, but ever since the tick-fever made me bleed...
'Have you been robbed at Aqua Grill restaurant lately? Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention... I was the thief.' Aqua is a not-domesticated-very-wild-cat. He can't help to steal people's food, but he has no better choice in order to survive. The Aqua Grill did loose some guests because of him, so they needed to get rid of him and fast.
Not long ago Lady Mama and her 2 pups were brought in. They're all are doing fine and I have great news! Both puppies have found loving homes. Lady Mama has already found someone to take care of her, we're just waiting on her return and Lady can go home.
'Linda' means beautiful in Spanish. It is also used as a name for people, but this time I chose this name for this special dog, because this is a perfect example of a mother that was 'sucked clean' to nurse her puppies, if you know what I mean... I guess the pictures will tell her story better.
Henk is a loving male, not neutered yet looking for a great home. For more information about this dog, call Animal Rights Aruba @ 588-7709 and ask for Martine.
Remember Zillah? Now her brother is here, Ziggy, worse than any other dog we ever had. He bites, growls, and if you're not careful enough, he attacks. Now that Zillah is completely 'domesticated', I'm spending time trying to domesticate this guy...pictures coming soon!
I am Bea, you couldn't have missed me if you've been to the Beatrix Airport recently. I'm healthy and beautiful because everyone feeds me there but in reality I want a home...
This is Neddy, a beautiful white female boxer - spayed - that is probably going home soon. She's been at the clinic for a few weeks now waiting to be adopted and there's a great chance she's going to a great home soon!
It happens a lot that people rescue dogs from the streets that we suspect might have a home somewhere out there, but when exactly do you really consider a dog a stray if he/she is constanlty begging for food & attention somewhere else but 'home'? Would you adopt them?
Recently, a female stray was killed by a run-away car and sadly, she had a litter of 8, barely 4 weeks old. Someone cared enough to nurse the puppies for a week, but they were too much for her to keep on going, so she found her way to us...
Stories coming soon! These 2 puppies' mother was way too skinny to keep on feeding them. Mother was brought in for surgery so she will have no more starving and dead puppies. Luckily, these two survived and are now looking for great homes!
Stompy was rescued from an old couple that couldn't take care for him anymore, besides, he was just hit by a car with a broken hip... there was a slight chance he had to be put to sleep, but we gave him a 2nd chance...
Rescued at the Holiday Inn and looking for a new owner is Savy Fenway. He was named Fenway after the Fenway Park in Boston, he got this name from caring tourists who were very concerned about his health & contributed to his rescue. Thanks for everything guys! Savy will be Grateful.
In Memory of Mr. Richard La Marche, owner of Whitey, Snowflake & Lucky, may he rest in peace. These cats had the best care and love they could and it broke our hearts to hear that their owner passed away...
Patrishi's Puppies were rescued at Seroe Patrishi, together with their mother Linda. Mother has nursed some healthy puppies but is in a starving condition herself. Puppies will be looking for homes as soon as they receive their first vaccine. Pictures coming soon!
Much like many others, this puppy was litterally rescued from the side of the road. He was brought to safety in order to prevent him being hit by a car and also to guarantee him a great home. Like many others, he too has mange and needs to be 'fixed' before we find him a great home.
I came in itching and scratching like crazy but soon, I felt much better. My name is Kikay and you can clearly see how much I improved since I was last treated for mange. It can be cured!
In the neighborhood of Bubali, a puppy was dumped into someone's front-yard. Lucky for her, she was dumped in the right hands. Although this person couldn't take care of her, he did give her a second chance without hesitating...
Who knows how many puppies end up homeless...the Animal Rights of Aruba have a handful trying to save as much puppies as they can at the time. This is a litter that came in to be spayed/neutered so we can make sure that when they leave to their new home, they won't have more unwanted puppies.
Meet Zillah, very shy and not so used to the human touch. She never socialized with people and is super shy. I almost got my hand bit off when trying to get her out of her cage...
Meet Shiba, rescued along with her recent litter (album coming soon) all looking for a great home. A little birdy told me that someone's already very exciting to have Shiba home but first...
Recently someone very selfish abandoned a house and left behind a beautiful and shy female dog. Fortunately, we still have people that care enough to notice this and ever since has been feeding this dog and a little pup that was always there with her...
Wonder why they called me Eyes? We still ask ourselves how on earth could anybody 'loose' a dog like this. Rescued from the streets, placed in ads, newspapers etc, still no one missed her. We WILL when we find her a new home, she has a spirit to die for! Pictures coming soon!
4 Puppies looking for a great home. If interested please call Tony @ 5225506. Puppies will receive their first vaccine for free @ Contreras Veterinary Services. Thank You all giving these puppies a great home!
Found in front of the Occidental Hotel, Oxi is about to give birth. She's due in a week or less and she's looking for someone to adopt her puppies. Oxi herself might be leaving to the States as soon as she's spayed and all pups have found a great home.
Balashi is also a stray. Together with a friend they were adopted and travelled to Massachusetts. Balashi lives with a great family and I heard she's been a naughty sweet girl!
Stray cats tend to adopt people themselves. This is Angelica, adopted @ the La Cabana Hotel ~ pregnant, very pregnant! It might sound wrong to have people convinced to spay a pregnant cat, but with Angelica, this was already out of the question...
Kiwi is already adopted but since she has to be nursed back to good health, she stayed behind to receive treatment and pick up untill she's ready to fly to her new friends...
Kunuku, Princess of Aruba couldn't wait to meet a family that would 'fall' for her, and she did! She was kept at a clinic for a few weeks while receiving treatment and is now super happy to be in Canada...with her new family.
Good people always know how to put an end to suffering strays, that's why Ms.Boisvert adopted Aruba after seeing him around for a while in deep distress.
Meet Divi, adopted and wishing for a new home. She came in Heartworm positive but since this is a treatable disease and she received the adecuate treatment, now we can proudly say that Divi is Heartworm negative. Already spayed, this old lady is looking for a quiet home to share with someone that offers lots of love.
Meet Coconut, she's one of the many strayed cats that was too cute to be ignored and found herself a loving family. Guess what? Coconut's home in Virginia!
Honey & Ginger were re-adopted and already travelled to their new home to join Chiquita, who was adopted a few years back by the same family that re-adopted Honey & Ginger!
Meet another Ruba...she was adopted and has been staying at the vet not long ago. Ruba travelled recently to New Jersey thanks to a nice volunteer that was more than willing to take her there. Ruba also wants to thank all other volunteers that came forward.
See pictures of Himmy at his new home with his new companions...he loves his new home. I heard he's been in the hospital lately, I wonder why!! Himmy, you better behave, or else...I might sent you a companion!!!
This is Bandita, she was found and adopted and currently being treated for anemia. She's still a little puppy and needs people to feed her. She craves attention and gets plenty of it!!
It all happened too fast, I can still remember a litter of the cutest puppies ever! I didn't even get a chance to take their baby pictures and before I knew it, they were on their way to San Diego. Healthy, beautiful, happy, but puppies no more!
Ms Patterson has arrived!! With no more than 8 dogs in the States. She rescued 6 puppies, one adult and was vacationing with her already adopted-stray Divi. All dogs are doing fine and are hoping to be placed in loving homes soon!
Goldy was rescued not long ago, and is waiting for the right time and weather conditions to travel to the States. He's making lots of friends and is a very smart dog. Be pending for his departure, it's going to be soon!
Ralph came in a few days after Goldy. He's also waiting to travel, but first has to recover from the mange and needs to be neutered. Be pending to see more pics of his recovery. He'll be a beautiful dog!
What is it with puppies that they always steal your heart?! This is Dushi, rescued from the streets cause someone could just not leave this puppy behind. Dushi wasn't healthy enough to travel, so he's staying at the clinic to recover and if all goes well, he'll be on his way to New York soon!!
Jerry was adopted like many others as a stray and couldn't travel in time because of his condition. Luckily, he recovered pretty fast and could leave as soon as he was ready to see his dearly missed new parents again... more pictures coming soon!
Honey & Ginger spent a few months at the clinic. Both of them completely recovered from the mange combined with anemia and after a long time of waiting for adoption they found themselves a new home... see Adopted: Chiquita, Honey & Ginger
See the transformation of Skol...a street dog suffering of mange, tick-disease and many subsequent complications. Fortunately he frequently visits a particular school and found the best helping hands: Kids
People seldom get to see how an animal is transformed from worse to best...very much possible with veterinary help and a whole lot of time and dedication, Muzzy is a perfect example.
We don't believe in 'euthanasia' but we do believe in 'a second chance'. See the recovery of Sarnibario, A.K.A Sarnis and I'd like to add that "Mange doesn't kill, negligence does" Bibi: Coming Soon!
Suzanne is Bruno's friend, they were brought in together and are almost inseperable. They were both almost hairless when they first came in, but after treatment for anemia and their skin, they look beautiful now. Suzanne is a spayed female.
Bibi knew exactly who to trust. It turns out she was very well known by everyone around that neighborhood but no one had the courage of a kind man to care for her the way he did...remarkably.
The treatment for mange is a long process and it takes a lot of patience, baths and dips. The results are sometimes unbelievable...Ody is a rescued stray, who basically lost most of his hair. BUT, he found help! Watch his recovery...
It's nothing but sad, how people can allow a dog to get to this point. Actually, this dog was dumped. She did not have a home and was found on the street looking for food and possibly someone that will care enough to help her out of her misery... meet Tuff Tuff, a perfect 'before and after' candidate.
Star has been spotted in Dakota and is very fortunate to have a nice couple that takes care of him daily. As you can see, he's covered in mange and started receiving treatment while still on the streets...
Mange sounds complicated but is usually easily treated, specially when it's a secondary disease. When it's genetic or allergy related though, it takes a) a lot of money b) a lot of time and c) a whole lot of patience and getting to know your dog. Jack here is allergic to many things, but he recoverd regardless...
An abscess can have many origins and can cause a lot of damage to the surrounding skin and tissue. See how Turbo recovers miraculously from a large abscess wound after serious dog-bites...nothing is impossible!
The Barica Geel (translation: Yellow Belly) is another typical Arubian Bird. They love sweets and are found everywhere. They are often called 'Sugar-thiefs'.
Chupi Rupi was brought in by someone that rescued her in her garden. The bird seemed very hungry and apparently hasn't been nursed lately. I nurtured her for about 2 months and she left by herself.
Not long ago I wished I had another 'Chupi' to take care of...and no more than a few weeks later I found myself caring for one. She was brought in by the very vet I work with, who's daughter found her when she flew into her class-room.
Most of the time the strongest will survive, but this time I had to give a helping hand to allow the strongest to survive. It was very easy for me since the nest was at an easily reachable spot. I never destroy any nests.
Chuchubi's are dirty rats! They eat like hungry pigs and are very naughty! I just simply can't refuse to nurture them when they are brought in at the clinic with no one to care for them.
The prikichi is a typical Arubian bird. Every now and then someone brings a Prikichi at the clinic that was either injured or very weak. I am more than glad to take care of these birds and set them free when they are ready to go.
This Prikichi was brougt in at the clinic with a bad leg and a broken wing. Was it worth rescuing her? Most definitely. I didn't release her in the wild though, she could have never made it alone.
Ever since my Dad and I built a large cage for all the birds and some litterally chewed their way out, I was left with Paco only. Paco never flew further than home. She's happy where she is, besides, now that I have cats around, she's better off inside than out there, although, she looked so lonely to me...
